Israeli-born and classically French trained Executive Chef/Owner Omri Magal (Le Cordon Bleu, Paris) is overseeing the semi-open kitchen, creating everything from scratch including: the delicious side dishes, soup and the dessert. As for its name, PETER'S SINCE 1969 is a tribute to its former tenant, Peter Kuper of B & B Meat Market, who has run the neighborhood butcher shop with his wife Lucy since 1969. Desiring to honor the legendary storefront not only with its name, but with its design, PETER'S SINCE 1969 has successfully maintained the integrity of the original butcher shop, which is actually over 100 years old. With its black and while tiled walls, old wood panels and floor, antique light fixtures, original meat hooks and marble counter, PETER'S SINCE 1969 has a classic, yet fresh feel, with genuine, authentic character and comfort. The large store front window, plus semi-open kitchen, draws the locals in to the casual, counter service space that has seating in the front and back, plus a quaint outdoor garden. PETER'S SINCE 1969 is simply starting a new dining out tradition that is destined to draw in repeat customers, just like Peter used to do.

There's also the one-two punch of sister restaurants Marlow & Sons, a Mediterranean café/restaurant/bar/store, and Diner, both created by the same folks and well-known parts of Williamsburg's hipster pedigree. Then there's Bamonte's for Italian, Falafel Chula for Middle Eastern, and Planet Thailand for Southeast Asian. Finally, enjoy a local nightcap—which generally means a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon—at one of the classic neighborhood bars. At The Levee, you can supplement your drinks with great bar food and a game of pool, but at Barcade, the gaming is digital and as well-stocked as the beer selection. The Alligator Lounge is another neighborhood favorite and serves free personal pizzas from its wood-burning oven every night until 3:30am.
