PLEASE NOTE: The Statue of Liberty’s crown, which was closed after the 9/11 attacks, has reopened to the public. Access, however, is limited to 30 visitors an hour. Monument passes are available for entry into the Statue's pedestal, and Crown passes are available for entry into the Crown by clicking the "Buy Tickets" link above. Visitors may also receive Monument Passes and Crown Passes (when available) each morning when a number of tickets are released to the public. The earlier you get to the ticketing windows in Battery Park or Liberty Park, the better your chances.

Few brief ferry trips can be more exciting; departing from Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan, both the spectacular New York skyline and the magnificent Statue of Liberty loom large in the distance. A potent symbol of freedom and democracy, the Statue was a gift from the French people to the people of the United States, and was dedicated in 1886. After a short walk around the base of the Statue, head to the Statue of Liberty Museum, located inside the pedestal. An elevator goes as high up as the top of the pedestal inside the Statue, and before 9/11 visitors could climb the seemingly endless 354 steps—approximately 22 stories—to the Statue's crown. The walk up was definitely for the intrepid or strong-willed, especially in the hot summer months.

Ferry service leaves Battery Park every 30 minutes from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. every day. Note that one round trip ferry ticket includes visits to both Liberty and Ellis islands and that there can be long lines and waiting periods in the busy summer months. For further info on the ferry service please call: 877-LADY-TIX.
Admission And Tickets

Adults (ages 13 years & older): $12.00
Senior Citizens (ages 62 & over): $10.00

For visitors planning to enter the Monument, a mandatory secondary screening is necessary and visitors must be in possession of a ticket that states “Monument Access”. The “Monument Access” reservation system enables holders to visit the museum gallery and pedestal observation levels. Access into the Statue of Liberty above the pedestal observation level is not permitted.

“Monument Access” is available at no cost with the purchase of a ferry ticket from Statue Cruises. An easy way to receive yours is by purchasing a RESERVED TICKET and selecting the Monument Pass option. The RESERVED TICKET option is strongly recommended for visits planned on weekends, during holiday periods and daily from MAY through SEPTEMBER as visitation is quite high.

If you are uncertain as to when you will visit, Statue Cruises offers a FLEX 3 DAY TICKET option. THIS OPTION WILL NOT INCLUDE MONUMENT ACCESS. However, a limited number of “Monument Access Passes” are available daily at the ferry ticket booths. FLEX 3 DAY TICKET holders, may upon arrival, visit the ticket booth to request a “MONUMENT ACCESS PASS”, but are not guaranteed to receive one, These passes are distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. “MONUMENT ACCESS PASSES” are not available at Liberty or Ellis Island.

More ticketing options, including other discounts, are available when you click on BUY TICKETS.
