horrible, horrible place
By domo-kun who lives in Floral Park

One of America's worst concert venues, with rotten acoustics and an average audience age of 75. You'll clearly hear every cough or cough drop being unwrapped, but the beauty of a philharmonic orchestra is marred by this awkward space. I've heard Berlioz in row 1 and I've heard Bartok in the last row upper tier, and I've heard concerts in multiple other locations here. It stinks. Pity the philharmonic didn't move to Carnegie Hall so that Alice Tully Hall could be ripped down and rebuilt as a worthy concert hall for this world-class city of eight million.
