Of all the places to sprawl out to—from Fifth Avenue to SoHo to the West Village—it's amazing that it took Apple as long as it did to plant their flag in the fertile soil of the Upper West Side. Now that it's over and done with, that gleaming jewel of usability fits into the neighborhood as though it's always been there. With a soaring glass facade, it could be a strangler from the Lincoln Center's herd of buildings or the future Met Opera House intruding into the past.
