One of New York's most unusual and magical theaters, the Delacorte Theater in Central Park is notable for being the long-standing home of the Public Theater's Shakespeare In The Park series, as well as Danny Meyer's new Public Fare concession. Located just south of the Great Lawn and overlooking the Turtle Pond, the Delacorte Theater has been one of the city's most enduring institutions since its original construction in 1962 as a temporary structure.

3/ To mitigate this issue and restore the lawns, this spring the #CentralParkConservancy will aerate the soil to give it air and relieve stress on the grass. We’ll also overseed, the practice of planting seeds on top of existing grass.

2/ Snow cushions & protects lawns, which typically spend the quiet winter months resting for spring and summer. Our lawns are experiencing more foot traffic than usual this winter, which is compounded by wet, unfrozen soil. When exposed, soil is at high risk of erosion and weeds.

1/ Still no snow in Central Park? 🤔 Lawns make up 30% of the Park and caring for them is no easy task—especially without snow's help. The recent lack of snow and warm temperatures aren’t just depriving New Yorkers of classic snow-day fun. They’re also impacting the landscapes.
