BUS & SUBWAY One of the best deals for getting around is the one-day or one-week flat-rate MetroCard, which entitles you ride as many subway trains and buses as you like during that fixed period of time. Just note: you can only buy the one-day MetroCard from a ticket machine, not from a token booth clerk. Lots of travellers bring their own pocket-size subway maps, but do check that your map is up-to-date; these pocket maps are notoriously inaccurate. What's more, free subway and bus maps are available in subway stations and on some buses! Of course, you can download them as well. Note: There are frequent subway schedule changes, and these are usually posted in affected subway stations.
