Children are invited to join New York City-based artist and illustrator Joana Avillez at “Art Sundae” for a free afternoon of drawing on Saturday, January 12th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Concourse Level (located between 49th and 50th Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues), Manhattan. Sketches drawn at Art Sundae will be included in an upcoming public art display at the Fort Gansevoort Windows at 51 Gansevoort Street. Joanna Avillez is a celebrated illustrator who has won acclaim for her playful drawings of city life. She is best known to her fans as author of Life Dressing and her latest, D-C-T, and she also illustrated Lena Dunham’s Not That Kind of Girl. She most recently collaborated with Rockefeller Center on an illustrated map, which can be seen in lightboxes around the Center, and obtained free of charge at the 30 Rockefeller Center welcome desk.
