"Find Your Halo" Featuring 17 Paintings By Contemporary Artist Louis Carreon From September 12th - October 5th, 2019; Contemporary Artist Louis Carreon will proudly present "Find Your Halo." "Find Your Halo" is a powerful and moving look at sanctity through 17 paintings. The ensemble is truly iconic in a literal and traditional sense. Louis Carreon imbues each canvas with the calligraphic language of street art and a diverse range of global currents that includes surfing, skateboarding, and religion. His saints draw viewers in to take a closer look, because we are all sinners and yet we all have the potential for transcending this state to one of holiness, wholly focused on blessing our communities. The opening reception will take place on September 12th from 6-9 pm. "This message resounds from his brush: Adam and Eve find redemption from capitalistic greed (the Original Sin of our age); a Virgin Mary-figure is sainted from lust; a Pietà calls us to compassion and concern. We see ourselves in these scenes. Several compositions reach across time to widely recognizable works by Old Masters, while the faces and vibrant palette connect to a tradition of religious image-maki... more

We see ourselves in these scenes. Several compositions reach across time to widely recognizable works by Old Masters, while the faces and vibrant palette connect to a tradition of religious image-making imbued with the holiness of a sanctified prototype, or original image." said Bryan C. Keene, Art Professor at Pepperdine University.

"Travels in Ethiopia further inspired Louis' graphic, linear, and prismatic effects, presenting a corpus of pictures whose protagonists include people of color, who are often absent or backgrounded in historical art. "Find Your Halo" invites visitors on a personal journey of reflection and recovery with the hope of healing." said Keene.
