The Downtown Boathouse is an all-volunteer organization that is dedicated to providing access to the Hudson River for everyone. The Boathouse is located in the Hudson River Park, and has a permit from the Hudson River Park Trust to operate in the park.
They run the following free programs: public kayaking, kayak trips on the harbor, kayak polo, evening classes, and a youth sailing program. They also make their facilities available to the general public for the launching of small hand powered boats.

KAYAKING - The pier 26 dock is about one mile north of the Battery, on the east side of the Hudson River (North 40 degrees 43.292 min, West 74 degrees 00.791 min). The dock is well inside the embayment and is connected by a ramp to the pier. There is a gate at the top of the ramp that can be opened (from the water side) at all times. It is locked (land side) when we are not there.

The nearest subway stop is the #1 and A/C/E station at 59th Street/Columbus Circle. The M57 and M31 buses run down 57th St. to West End Ave (one block east).
