Editorial Review
One of Avenue C's unexpected delights is a German-style restaurant with beers galore. While the ambience varies depending on how packed the place is, service can be either German efficiency or rather indifferent. It's best to go in a group and sample a variety of dishes (which may or may not show up at the same time) and drink a good number of the excellent beers. The atmosphere can only be described as festive. Weekend brunches are a good, with ample portions and fresh ingredients, which probably are a healthier option than the standard wurst and potato salad. Seating outside in summer is wonderful, but revelers are forced inside before midnight so the neighbors do not complain. Having won an injunction against eviction by the landlord in August 2006, it appears Zum Schneider will be here to stay.
