Editorial Review
Trattoria Dopo Teatro has the feeling of a Trattoria that one might find near Rome's Spanish steps.
New chef Giuseppe Guglielmo Amoroso brings several years of international experience to Trattoria Dopo Teatro’s kitchen. Chef Amoroso, who studied the culinary arts in Rome and Geneva, has worked in Switzerland, Italy and England at the Hotel de la Pax in Geneva, at Roma restaurant in New Castle, England, and at the four star Hotel Mambosa in Rome. He opened a number of other fine restaurants in Italy including Alessio, La Brasserie, and Il Gattopardo.
The restaurant has a beautiful interior garden, called "The Secret Garden." It has elaborate mosaic designs, beautiful paneling, a working waterfall, a cigar room and a GRAPPA library. It makes for an elegant party space. The main restaurant at Dopo Teatro was designed by its owner, architect Emilio Barletta, who was delighted to find 20-foot ceilings and stone support beams in the turn of the century building when he took over the landmark space in 1995. The main floor is dominated by a classic oak back bar which once graced a Manhattan speakeasy. The tile floor dates to the early 1900's and a pizza oven glows in another corner.
