Tucked away in the boundary-shifting Fort Greene, you might have to take a little walk from BAM to stumble on the Smoke Joint, but it's worth the stumble. The offerings are all equally sinful and delicious: the barbecue "hacked & stacked" chicken is beyond reproach, the beef is similarly undeniable. The sauces offered run the necessary gamut of flavor successfully, but with the flavor that's cooked into the food, sauces are hardly necessary. The fries are also packed with flavor, coated as they are in a tasty, stingy-but-not-hot blend of spices. One of the best features of The Smoke Joint is their selection of pure cane sugar sodas, which wash down the barbecue with a kick of their own.
