Sorella

Sorella's small plates and Northern Italian fare exist is a sort of mirrored infinity. The restaurant itself—tucked neatly away on Allen Street—is small, but cozily so, and is adorned with such cunning and stylish simplicity that it effects an almost Japanese air of subdued, beige-and-balsa modernity. You'll find that the plates served at Sorella are much the same; Piedmontese affectations are contrasted more sharply, aligned as they are on the plates, which is, in itself, another microcosm, this time of Emma Hearst and Sarah Krathen's frenetic and fresh-eyed enthusiasm. The whole affair is a study in synergy, of sympathetic forces converging and rising together to create something truly unique.
