Editorial Review
Riingo represents star chef Marcus Samuelsson's take on American and Japanese dining, with an inspired menu, design and overall atmosphere that aims to create an experience that showcases the food, design and hospitality of both cultures.
The name of the restaurant is inspired by the Japanese word for 'apple', the iconic symbol of New York City. Samuelsson, the 2003 James Beard Foundation 'Best Chef: New York City', is best known for his masterful Scandinavian cuisine that earned Aquavit two three-star reviews from the New York Times. With Riingo, he has created a modern and more casual restaurant, offering the best of American and Japanese dining, united by Samuelsson's creativity and an admiration for the two cuisines. Executive chef Jimmy Lappalainen, who hails from Finland and was a former chef at Aquavit, is in charge of the kitchen.
