Editorial Review
Pizza Bar has closed. Our original review follows:
Next to the Old Homestead Steakhouse and taking a cue from its neighbor Pop Burger, Pizza Bar has both a take-out window and a lounge/bar serving pizza from the adjacent kitchen as well as salads and sandwiches. Its dazzling ceiling design and sleek interior, combined with an intriguing menu of pizzas (lobster & bacon; french onion; mushroom mascarpone & white truffle oil) and a few other simple sandwiches and salads make for a groovy atmosphere. Pizzas also can be delivered. Molto Italiano meets Saturday Night Fever and Stanley Kubrick?
Our recommendation: Ignore the kids just off the L train from Billburg and go right for the lobster & bacon pizza: its thin crust, the generous portion of lobster, and the chopped tri-color cherry tomatoes will make you think Wolfgang Puck is in the kitchen. It is quite possibly one of the best pizzas in New York. And thanks to the late-night hours, you can enjoy the food deep into the night.
