Mi Cocina is the creation of Jose Hurtado-Prud'homme. Born and bred in Mexico, Jose developed his interest in cooking thanks to the skills of his two grandmothers. As a young boy, he enjoyed staying close by their sides during meal preparations. It was in each of their homey kitchens, one in Guanajuato and the other in Veracruz, that Jose began learning the regional cuisines of his heritage.
In 1991, he opened the doors of Mi Cocina, located in Greenwich Village. The restaurant's sophisticated Mexican cuisine has been a favorite of New Yorkers ever since.
We suggest you start off your dinner with the house special Margarita, the formidable "Doña." Made with a mixture of El Jimador tequila with Grand Marnier, Triple Sec, and fresh lime. Served on the rocks or straight up, either way you are well on your way to a memorable evening.
