Editorial Review
This tiny sliver of a building next to tapas restaurant Tia Pol will be receiving a towering new neighbor after the neighboring Exxon station becomes a high rise. The exterior and interior design alone are compelling enough, a complete makeover of the former Khyber Kebab's gritty roadside taxi stand. Speaking of extreme makeover, the menu shift from the Korean Peninsula to Japanese and now to sake bar with small plates speaks volumes. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again; even with the importation of Thomas Kato up Tenth Avenue from Morimoto, the service and offerings remain rather lackluster. If you crave Japanese-style snacks and don't mind spotty service, St. Marks Place remains hands-down the place to be.
