Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Shoppe

Chinatown at one time had a Carvel, which despite being made famous by gravely-voiced Tom Carvel (as well as the Beastie Boys) eventually gave way to Haagen-Dazs. No matter that the nearby Chinatown Ice Cream Factory is infinitely better; for two generations, the ice cream stores of Bayard Street have been an institution for the kids of Chinatown and nearby Park Row apartment buildings. We hear that even one American diplomat got her start doing summertime duty here!
