Editorial Review
Inspired by the gentlemen's clubs of London, Elizabeth adds a touch of New York punk attitude into the mix at this Nolita bar and restaurant. Whereas most people would take the PATH to get to Elizabeth, owners Sam Martinez and Jeff Mancini took a route that led straight through The Odeon, Lucky Strike, Nell's, Rialto, and Cafe Habana, leaving them on the doorstep of a new establishment intended to attract and sate the local appetite. In the pursuit of that coveted demographic—the faithful neighbors—Elizabeth has put together a stunning menu of alluring new American cuisine and set it against a backdrop of simple tones of black and white, a clever design that chooses to bring out the color of the patrons rather than making the walls emote falsely. An outdoor garden area features a thankfully-retractable roof and climate control.
