Editorial Review
At Elaine’s the food is essentially secondary to the patronage. Named after its famed, cantankerous owner who can still be spotted their nearly every night attending to customers, the casual bistro is a frequented by a high celebrity clientele and counts Woody Allen, Michael Caine and Jackie Onassis among its devotees.
While their veal chops are considered among the best in Manhattan, Elaine’s food is certainly overshadowed by the establishment’s history and lore and is rightly considered a New York institution. It’s essentially a great spot for celeb-watching, while enjoying typical Italian dishes (the menu is quite pasta heavy) but good luck trying to get a reservation.
