Editorial Review
This restaurant is now closed. Our original review follows:
The Cub Room opened in July of '94 and has remained a popular destination for lunch, dinner, and cocktails, ever since. Catering to a mix of Soho artists, gallery owners and downtown professionals, the restaurant is separated into three areas; an upscale dining room, an active bar/lounge and a casual cafe. The "Chef's Table" just off the main dining room with a view of the kitchen provides the perfect setting for small intimate dinner parties or business meetings.
Enjoy Chef Richard Calton's inspired menu in this calm yet sophisticated setting. A group of four curved banquettes placed in a back-to-back configuration in the center of the room is surrounded by additional banquettes and free standing tables placed in quiet nooks and corners. The rose brick walls keep the room soft while an eclectic assortment of lighting fixtures illuminate, setting a soothing tone for Chef Calton's innovative cooking. Be sure to try Cub Room's incredible salmon Caesar salad and the house smoked muscovy duck breast with mashed Yukon gold potatoes, wild mushrooms and escarole.
