Editorial Review
Within close proximity of Old Homestead, within spitting distance of Del Posto and Morimoto, and in the space that was Frank's, Tom Colicchio has placed the New York edition of his successful Las Vegas steakhouse in the northern reaches of the Meatpacking District. Given the transformation of Colicchio's Craftbar and expansion of the 'wichcraft franchise, it seemed perhaps inevitable that Craftsteak would land in the new tourist zone of lower Tenth Avenue across from the Chelsea Market gastro-megaplex. With a dizzying variety of cuts and grades, expect pure beef and über-protein. Given the requisite dry-aging facilities on premises as well as rumors of an upscale make-your-own-burger bar, it seems all the right notes have been hit by chef Shane McBride. Further proof the Meatpacking District has been transformed into the meat serving district.
