Iacopo Falai's latest venture combines the sleek elements of his signature Clinton Street restaurant
Falai along with the easygoing style of his nearby
Falai Panetteria. With a handsome white interior, the display cases are full of the signature pastries and baked goods that have become a hallmark of his Lower East Side properties. Moreover, an intriguing cafe menu includes an impressive variety of moderately-priced entrees, quite a departure from the usual overpriced SoHo dining establishments. But repeat visits have underscored slipshod service; although sincere and eager, servers tend to be a bit dazed and confused. Tip: for take out you'll want to try croissants and other fresh baked goods in the morning, and aim for the desserts in the late afternoon.
