Editorial Review
Of all the curry temples on East Sixth Street and surrounding avenues, Rose of India constantly wins the prize for most ostentatious. The lighting scheme is utterly outrageous, well beyond anything you could conjure up (except of course around the corner at Millon restaurant). Most exciting of all in this tiny dining room surrounded by mirrors is when someone has a birthday (which is generally once an hour) and the staff lets loose with extraordinary fun, song and dance. The food? Well, some dishes are palatable, others merely edible, and still others ought not to be ordered at all. Keep it simple, wash it down with large amounts of beer, and you might be able to digest everything.
