With Shouts, you can let your connections know about something (e.g. an
event, a restaurant) FAST! When you don't feel like writing a full
review but still want to draw attention to something on our site, shouts are a
great option. When you send a Shout, anyone who has made you a
connection will see what you have to say about it in their 'Connections' window.
Some examples of shouts are: "This play closes tonight - don't miss it!" or
"Ate here last night. Check it out before it gets discovered!"
You can TAG any business or event you find on NYC.com. A tag is like a
personal keyword or category label. So with tags, you can label what
interests you on NYC.com with words that make sense to you. Your tags
can
then be used to help you share, store and organize this information.
For
example, you could tag a Japanese restaurant you like with "great
sushi,"
"delicious," "expensive," "downtown." In the future, if you're in the
mood
for great sushi, you can easily find any restaurant fast that you
tagged
"great sushi." Or if you're looking for a restaurant downtown, just
search
with "downtown." What's more, you can also see all the records everyone
else has tagged "great sushi" or "downtown" at NYC.com.
This is different than a normal search, because it shows you what the
users
at NYC.com are thinking about and reviewing. TAGS are a great resource
for
finding out what's going on, what's hot, what people are talking about.
Some
rise and others fall in importance, depending on how the tag is being
used.
So why use TAGS?
1. Tags keep found things found. Tags make it easy for you to find
businesses or events again, using the terms you use to describe them.
If
you can't remember the name of that great French bistro you went to
four
months ago, just click on your FRENCH tag, and there it is!
2. Tags let you find things using other users' language. We
might
tag a restaurant as FRENCH, but someone else might tag it as PARIS
CHEF.
And you can see the most popular tags on NYC.com by visiting
http://www.nyc.com/tags/ - the size of each link shows how many records
are tagged with that word or phrase. The bigger the word, the bigger
and
more powerful the tag!
3. Tags let you visualize your NYC and see how others see it.

EDITORIAL REVIEW
Spread out over three floors in a charming building, Bouley Bakery, Café, Market, and Upstairs bring together extraordinary and diverse foods under one roof.
The bakery and cafe, at ground level, feature spectacular fresh-baked goods as well as house-made soups, salads, sandwiches, hot and cold beverages, including coffee, cappuccino, teas, iced teas, and juices, and, of course, Bouley's full range of breathtaking desserts.
There is self-service sidewalk seating at umbrella-shaded tables, and, during daytime hours, the Upstairs dining room is available for self-service seating as well. See our separate review of dining at Upstairs here.
A variety of organic flours and other flavorful ingredients go into the various breads, from garlic bread, to hazelnut bread, to lemon bread, to the basic Miche, a round of specialty French bread, also known as a boule, with a dark crunchy crust.
Bouley Bakery also features pastries, in both traditional and modern French styles along with Viennese, American, and Asian influences, ranging from fruit tarts to chocolate and almond croissants, to enjoy on their own or to cap off and complete the experience of a full meal. The selections change frequently, and these truly innovative and highly creative desserts are sold at very competititve prices.
Finally, completing the three-floor food emporium, the downstairs Market features a limited array of select, seasonally available organic products, meats, fish, and cheeses, accompanied by the availability of some prepared packaged products. The chickens and beef are especially delicious, but a visit to the downstairs would not be complete without a container of Bouley's amazing sorbet or ice cream, also sold at very fair prices. And you'll be hard-pressed to find better prices on organic chickens in New York City.
From Bouley's website: An essential ingredient in the success of David Bouley’s restaurant operations has rested upon continuing development of a network of purveyors of the fine products used in food preparation. In particular this involves a highly developed expertise in, and active planning and coordination of purchases from, those involved in production of organic farm goods and sources of specialty products. The intent is to continue development of this resource, to help address transportation and market issues faced by these producers, and to make high quality products such as those used in the restaurant operations more readily available to a wider public.
Thus, the Market features raw products, in accord with the season, of the same high quality used in Bouley restaurants, based on relations with suppliers that have developed over the years, with an emphasis on organically fed meat sources (including poultry, U.S. prime dry aged beef, veal, pork, and lamb). Similarly fish supplies reflect the freshest available products, including shellfish such as live lobster. In addition to offering ingredients needed to prepare sauces for the dishes to be created at home, prepared sauces also will be offered, and matched with the available raw products, to complement and complete meal preparation at home.
