My sister and I visited NY on 5/24/08 to see a Broadway play. We did lunch at B Smith's because we heard it was a stellar restaurant. Quite to the contrary! Our soup was too salty, and we sent it back to the kitchen. The southern fried chicken entree was disappointing; the chicken was tainted (going bad), tasted VERY bland, and the collard greens were extremely spicy (that fact was not noted on the menu). The sweet potatoes were mediocre. One glass of diet coke was $4.25! I had to "remind" the waiter to bring my beverage; he said he had forgotten. At the END of our visit, our water glasses were filled. This was truly an abysmal experience that my sister and I reluctantly paid $87.13 for which we would like to have our money back. Never again will I eat there! 

Adding insult to injury, the restaurant also left the initial "pending" charge of $76.13 on my credi...

We've been to B. Smith's twice - both times were on Friday evenings AFTER the theatre crowd had left. The first time I went, which was a few years ago, I had a seafood dish (don't recall exactly) that was served with the most delicious and delicate French lentils and southern greens. The second time I had the seared salmon. It was perfectly cooked and the delicious. The only thing I was surprised about was that both times there were not too many people there. But, then again, I don't know what it's like with the theatre crowd. The service was impeccable - not intrusive and not lax. The ambience was just right warm and elegant but not overdone. All I can say is that this is a restaurant that you want to make a regular.
