First of all, we noticed the smell of fresh seafood as soon as we entered the building, and it smelled FANTASTIC!!  I believe it was probably crab. We had just arrived in NYC for the first time and wanted a drink, so we popped into Rosie's.  The bartender was excellent, and the drinks were better! I ordered a bowl of French Onion Soup while at the bar, and it was textbook perfect!
The bartenders were very friendly, carried on conversations with us (maybe they liked our Southern accents...), and gave us some tips about touring Manhattan on New Years.
On my next trip, I will definitely return for a full dinner and find out what that wonderful smell was all about.
