A challenging and beautiful course but..............
Pros: A challenging and beauitful course but......
Cons: The physical quality of the greens leaves a lot to be desired.
.......Patriot Hills is a fun, challenging and beautifully scenic course with gorgeous views of the Hudson, distant mountains and surrounding areas below. You must take a cart due to the distance and long zig zagging cart paths connecting some of the holes together. There are some spectacular holes with elevated tee's and greens. Wild life abounds with deer, fox, soaring hawks and the occasional turkey meandering along. Ok here it comes. The grass on the greens is very thin for some reason, not nice and thick like most greens you normally see and they don't get very green either. Its not a reason to NOT play the course at least once but I would hope they are aware of this problem and trying to remedy it because it does have an impact. Also when your paying $125 bucks to play a round on the weekend you expect everything to be in order at that price. There are plenty of other course's in the area to play on for as much or less than that and offer far better greens to put on. Like Rotella for instance which is just down the road. They have stepped things up there in the last 6 years. They changed a couple holes for the better and its a much more finely groomed course than it used to be. Of course they have stepped up the greens fee's too but when it comes to very well maintained quality greens and fairways , Rotella has Patriot Hills beat. All things considered its a better value for the money.
