Pros: food ok, service ok
Cons: the talent has no talent. I blame management for allowing it
I was really pissed. I wanted a fun Saturday night out, and I wasted my time at this hole. After all, this is NYC -- a town that's simply lousy with talent. But at Mo's, the talent was simply lousy.
Congratulations to Mo's. I saw the most unfunny "comedy show" ever. And I'm confident it will retain that singular distinction for as long as I live. The Shark Show started with a guy coming out on stage, posting pictures of the others who should have been there, but weren't. Fine. I'll play along. I mean, I'll play along and look for humor in the ensuing stuff. Unfortunately, there wasn't any.
So then another guy gets on stage and they banter. I swear it was like a bad frat get-together (you know, the kind where the brothers guffaw a lot) that ,ANY outsider would say is just mindless hooting. No preparation. And no talent.
Even if these guys made a genuinely, concerted effort to demonstrate their desire to entertain, that would have been enough. They didn't.
Then the "comedians" came on. The first was sweating, looking at his notes and used the word "like" like, a lot. And his jokes weren't, like, funny.
The second comedian simply dissed what other comedians do. Bad form.
The third comedian -- I kid you not -- got on stage, sat on the piano bench, opened his notebook and proceeded to tell the audience that he hadn't prepared anything. He looked through his notebook for something to say.
If this was high concept, trust me, he was no Andy Kaufman. It's not easy to not be funny and be funny at it. He wasn't.
Hadda get this off my chest. Hope someone from the restaurant reads this.
