Do you like to draw ying-yangs on the covers of your notebooks? Are you still holding on to your Doc Martens in the hopes that they'll experience a fashion revival? Did you dress up as Winona Ryder circa "Reality Bites" for Halloween last year? Tonight, the New Yorker's fashion columnist, Judith Thurman, discusses the eclectic, reactionary and the sometimes hygienically questionable fashion of Gen X-ers. Fashion mavens Alice Roi, Behnaz Sarafpour and Tara Subkoff join Thurman, making for one stylish conversation. How fab. Ailey Studios, 405 W. 55th St., (877) 391-0545. 4 p.m. $25.

The ninth annual RESFEST kicks off on Thursday, September 15th. Come enjoy four jam-packed days with over a hundred of the year's most inventive and inspiring short films, music videos and animation. This year's lineup is the biggest yet, featuring a keynote presentation by celebrated filmmaker and photographer Stéphane Sednaoui, a Beck Retrospective, the world premiere of Doug Pray's graffiti documentary Infamy, a survey of the work of Swedish advertising and music video collective Traktor, provocative panel discussions, studio tours and nighttime events featuring DJ ?uestlove and live performances from Hot Chip and Simian Mobile Disco.
I went last year and it was absolutely amazing! It’s a real "must go" for anyone working in broadcast or film.

I felt a little hesitant and snobbish about attending this event. Especially, after the 2004 TOKION Creativity Conference http://www.tokion.com/conference/. Who can beat Christopher Doyle during a drunken teleconference while working on Wong Kar Wai’s 2046? Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. Highlights included Diller Scofidio Renfro, Fafi, Paul Pope, Peter Sluszka and my personal favorite... Visionaire.
