BH & Girls and Boys Halloween Bash in Freddy Krueger's House
with Andy Bell (of Erasure) Exclusive New York DJ Set
Monday October 31 at Lotus
Hosted by Filter magazine
This year will be our biggest Halloween bash in the history of GBH - to be held Halloween night at Lotus. The club will be decorated as Freddy Kruger's House (of Nightmare On Elm Street fame) and we'll be dressing in theme...
And if that isn't chilling enough for you, the singer of the internationally successful synth-pop duo Erasure, Andy Bell, is coming to town to play his first ever New York DJ set for your delight and entertainment.
Erasure (the synth-pop band that started out in the '80s and is still going strong today) is made up of only two members - Vince Clarke (who was a founding member of Depeche Mode) and Andy Bell. Together they have been responsible for more hits than it seems proper for any one band to have. In their illustrious career, they have given us such classics as Oh L'Amour, Sometimes, Chains Of Love, A Little Respect, Blue Savannah and too many more to mention (listen here). We are very excited to have Andy spin for us.
There will also be DJ sets from Paddy Boom (of the internationally famous, and filthily gorgeous band we are not allowed to mention), & Alex English playing new wave, '80s, dance-rock and party classics in the main room.
Downstairs in the lounge, $mallchange will be playing hip-hop, soul, funk, r&b and classics
Meanwhile, in the Flower room, 33Hz will be DJing, joined by Mike Canino (Tease) and Michael Hime (of Unknown People).
Your hosts for the evening will be... Tom & Alejandro, Dagny, Nico XO, Noel, Tease and Unknown People
$10 advance tickets available on Ticketweb. Click Here.
$15 reduced admisson on the GBH guest list 'til 12.30 - email event@gbh.tv with your name and number of guests you are bringing and say you are on the GBH list when you arrive at the door
$20 General Admission.
Lotus is located 409 W14th St. beween 9th & 10th Aves. Doors open 9pm.

Reminder:
When: The party is THIS Saturday, October 29th from 9:00PM till late (and its daylight savings time night so fall back and gain an extra hour of Halloween-y goodness.)
Where: BLVD 199 Bowery (Bowery and Spring)
What: $10 before 11:00 PM, $20 after 11:00 PM
Wine: 2 for 1 Effen vodka drinks from 9-11 (think were
trying to encourage you to show early? Bingo.)
Word: Costumes are MANDATORY (suck it up, be creative
its Halloween)
WList: You must RSVP to be on the list (INDIVIDUAL NAMES, no plusses!!!) To RSVP, just hit reply OR send names to blingblingrsvp@yahoo.com
The more the merrier so feel free to send the invite around BUT they MUST RSVP!!! (and dont RSVP at 9:00 PM Saturday, I swear to you every year we get at least 10 RSVP's after the party starts, as if I'm sitting there with my laptop adding you to the list.)
We have rented out all of BLVD so we are the only party there, the people at the door (who we hired) are named Joe and Kimberly. The only reason that there will be a line is if literally we can't get people in the door fast enough.
All our love

To the Danger Makers,
You are invited to join The Concrete Rituals.
http://www.concreterituals.com
You probably already know this, but we're fucked. It's not
the type of fucked that can be fixed by voting, blogging,
protesting, donating, or drinking until delirious. We've
tried all that. We're still fucked. This goes deeper.
Our nation is cursed.
It all became clear after the second hurricane hit, after
the second war erupted, after the second tower fell. It all
became clear in the path of the H2, in the glare of the
Jackson trial, in the face of the new Pope. It all became
clear in the seconds after the second election. We are a
nation crumbling under the curse of fiasco. Despite many
attempts to turn it around we continue to fail fantastically.
So now it's time to try something wildly different.
Welcome to the Concrete Rituals.
From Halloween Night to Fat Tuesday we will be hosting one
hundred twenty one nights of art, ritual and wild abandon to
lift the fiasco from this cursed nation. These rituals will
be tiny and vast, sincere and preposterous, beautiful and
drastic and all in the streets. Anyone can create a ritual
and we hope everyone will.
This is how we save ourselves.
The start of this is obvious. Halloween. New York City. A
Renegade Parade. A night of fire and brimstone and
elaborate walking effigies. We bring the battling tribes,
brown-bag-liquor, big brass bands and back-pack stereos.
You bring the nefarious energy, your elaborate costume and
others like you.
Our first ritual will be:
The Ash Masquerade, October 31st
This is not just a party, or a passive night of performance
watching. You are invited to be with us, in the NYC
Halloween parade and on to an undisclosed after-location.
You are the artstar and the street is your stage.
For the artist call see:
http://www.concreterituals.com
To parade with us come to our artist meeting where we will
go over the plan of action, performance aspects, costumes
and the big surprise at the end. This is less a meeting and
more of a pre-performance party.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of experience.
Come to:
Bar Thirteen : 35 East 13th St. @ University Place
Wednesday, October 26th : 7pm to 9pm
Come late if you need to.
Two for one drink specials, just for us.
More details on this project will be posted next week.
You are the danger makers and this is your era.

THURSDAY, OCT 20
John Hodgman hosts a benefit of epic proportions for Dave Eggers's 826NYC youth writing center. Amy Sedaris, Le Tigre's Kathleen Hanna and various "Daily Show" correspondents model the latest in superhero-chic as designed by Marc Jacobs, Jack Spade, Kenneth Cole and others. "The Incredibles'" Edna Mode will provide commentary. As if that weren't enough, there will also be a short film, a reading by Sarah Vowell, a marching band and more. Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway, (212) 864-5400. 8 p.m. $25 & $75.
FRIDAY, OCT 21
Tonight, those nice folks over at CUNY open their doors to a collection of contrarians for a lecture titled "Everything You Know Is Wrong." According to the press release, "It's NOT a night for the entire family." So call a babysitter, leave your grandmother at home and head to the Graduate Center. The Disinformation Company (the "hidden information" mavens who compiled "You Are Being Lied to and Everything You Know Is Wrong"), have invited the occult painter Paul Laffoley, performance artist Kembra Pfahler (of "The Voluptuous Horror Of Karen Black") and plant communication scientist (whatever that is) Duncan Laurie for an evening of mind-expanding performance and lecture. Remember to wear your tin-foil hat, though. Otherwise "they" might read your thoughts. CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave., (212) 817- 8215. 7 p.m. $15.
SATURDAY, OCT. 22
Printed Matter celebrates the launch of Charwei Tsai's new quarterly publication, "Lovely Daze," a collection of artists' writings and their works. Contributing artists include Super Mario Brothers-obsessed programmer Cory Arcangel, "hustler of culture" and younger brother of Rob, Justin Lowe, and painter Seth Wieder, whose nature depictions rival Bob Ross's "happy little trees." Noise rockers Japanther play at the after-party at ICU Bar. Printed Matter, 535 W. 22nd. St., (212) 925-0325. 7 p.m. Free.
SUNDAY, OCT. 23
When you think of Russia, you think of great literature and even better vodka. It's unlikely the word "comedy" would spring to mind. Well, Eugene Mirman, the round-faced Russian emigre with an American upbringing is going to change that. Mirman, a comedian, writer and filmmaker whose album, "The Absurd Nightclub Comedy of Eugene Mirman" was voted one of the "Best Albums of 2004" by the comedy experts at "The Onion," will be making you laugh your socks (and maybe your pants) off at Pianos. Tonight he and his fellow comedian Leo Allen will be yukking it up. Pianos, 158 Ludlow St., (212) 505-3733. 9:30 p.m. $10.
MONDAY, OCT. 24
Some of our favorite actors, Steve Buscemi, John Ventimiglia and Aida Turturro, and one of our favorite mysteries -- a mystery musical guest -- come together to read excerpts of screenplays of remakes of films by the murdered Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh. The three films, "Interview," "Blind Date" and "06" are currently being shot and will be released in early 2006. Provocative? Yes! A hootin' and hollerin' affair? Just maybe! Issue Project room, 400 Carroll St., (718) 330-0313. 8 p.m. $20.
TUESDAY, OCT. 25
Co-founding member of Shinkoyo Records and solo artist Matt Mehlan joined forces with friends Seve, Johnny, Jason and Carson to form Skeletons and the Girl Faced Boys. Ever since, these guys have been rocking out and a forging their own unique blend of synthesized bleeps, beats and vocals that drives the kiddies ca-RAY-zy! They'll be performing tonight along with Print, the Big Sleep, Other Passengers and My Best Friend. Pianos, 158 Ludlow St., (212) 505-3733. 7:30 p.m. $8.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 26
The one, the only Kim Cattrall has just published her second book, "Sexual Intelligence." Inspired by her SATC character, Samantha Jones, it's part art book, part self-help sex manual and is being praised as "the hottest" coffee table book ever. Yipes! Take the opportunity now to meet with Cattrall as she signs copies of her new book -- otherwise, you'll have to wait for the book inspired by her character in "Ice Princess." Barnes & Noble, 600 Fifth Ave., (212) 765-0590. 1 p.m. Free.

Hi All,
Is there something you want to get? Do you have
something you want to offer? Are you afraid or
embarassed to make it happen?
I need users to sign up for my anonymous commerce
network. Buyers and sellers of stuff can remain
completely anonymous and their physical identity is
unknown even to the administrator of the network.
Why anonymous? Well, anonymity is good when users wish
to engage in private transactions involving taboo
goods or services.
Here's how it works:
1) Users sign up to the network by sending an email
(ideally from a new, free email acct at Yahoo or
Hotmail or Gmail using some unrecognizable pseudonym)
to the administrator of the network. The
administrator's email address is
"anonymous_trade@yahoo.com".
2) The initial email must contain either a list of
goods & services offered, along with price info and/or
a list of goods & services wanted.
3) The administrator will route offers to matching
requests.
4) Buyers and sellers need only interact with the
administrator of the network via email. Communication
between buyers/sellers is almost always (see below)
mediated by the administrator.
5) If the good or service offered is not digital and
therefore requires a physical exchange, and the
parties have mutually agreed to engage in a
transaction, then both buyer and seller can together
request that the administrator provide the parties
respective contact emails so that this may be
arranged.
Questions? Send me an email. anonymous_trade@yahoo.com

SATURDAY, OCT. 8
Diamond dogz, star-men and star-ladies celebrate 35 years A.G. (After Glam). Gorgeously trashy DJs Twig the Wonderkid and the Astronetts commemorate the anniversary by playing all the classics along with some glam-rock progeny: new-wave, electro, punk and synthpop. Glamourpusses, Justine D. and Michael T. will dropping by (hopefully in their multi-colored, knitted jumpsuits). Let all the children boogie! Rififi/Cinema Classics, 332 E. 11th St., (212) 677-5368. 10 p.m. Free.
SUNDAY, OCT. 9
Noah Baumbach's new one, "The Squid and the Whale," has all the critics a-buzzing. We've been Baumbach fans since the his 1995 post-college angst-fest, "Kicking and Screaming." His latest is a semi-autobiographical tale that follows a Park Slopian family trudging through a hostile divorce in the 1980s. Jeff Daniels and Laura Linney are writers at different points in their careers, whose relationship has been reduced to custody arguments over the family cat. Their children predictably take sides and act out at school. Look out for scene-stealer Jesse Eisenberg. Call 777-FILM for theaters and showtimes.
MONDAY, OCT. 10
Brits Kieran Hebden (aka Four Tet) and Jamie Lidell know how to click a mouse. Eww, not like that, pervo! They're really good at making music with computers! These laptop-saavy maestros have been zig-zagging all over the place due to their heavy tour schedules. Tonight they're making a stop at the Bowery Ballroom. Four Tet's latest album, "Everything Ecstatic," has been commended for its use of innovative musical layering. Jamie Lidell has recently decided to provide vocals to his tracks. See them work their magic -- before HAL takes control. Bowery Ballroom, 6 Delancey Street, (212) 533-2111. 8 p.m. $18.
TUESDAY, OCT. 11
Whether you see her as a glib demon of decoupage or as an unsuspecting scapegoat for corporate scum, Martha Stewart's opinions on running a successful business are sure to be intriguing. Bust out a calligraphy pen as she signs copies of "The Martha Rules: 10 Essentials for Achieving Success as You Start, Grow, or Manage a Business," and we shall see what she's really made of. Barnes & Noble, 33 E. 17th St., (212) 253-0810. 12:30 a.m. Free.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 12
Admit it. You were hoping that "Naked Trampoline Hamlet" had nude, bouncing performers reciting some classic soliloquies. Get thee to a nunnery! But if it's tantalizing humor that you're after, look no further. The outlandish and imaginative comedian Andres du Bouchet, will be presenting a more-cohesive-than-usual collection of his kooky soliloquies this evening. Anticipate humor most foul. Under St. Marks, 94 St. Marks Pl., (212) 868-4444. 8 p.m. $10.

MONDAY, OCT. 3
Led by the intrepid Cameron Bird, Architecture in Helsinki actually hails from the desolate wastelands of Australia. However, this doesn't prevent the octet from creating crazily complex pop songs with a touch of raw sheen to them. Be prepared though, Bird has been known to break out an exercise bike on-stage and lead the audience in a workout routine. Just to be on the safe side, consider bringing some deodorant and a change of clothes. Warsaw at the Polish National Home, 261 Driggs Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn, (718) 387-5252. 9 p.m. $12.50 advance & $13 day of show.
TUESDAY, OCT. 4
Artist Jenny Holzer is taking projection to a whole new level with her new "For the Lights" project. For three days (starting Monday), Holzer will use NYU's Bobst Library as a canvas of sorts. From dusk until midnight, declassified U.S. government documents will scroll down its facade. Answers to the second gunman conspiracy probably won't appear, but the show is still worth your time. If you miss this opportunity, the installation will appear on the New York Public Library from Oct. 6th-9th. NYU's Bobst Library, 70 Washington Sq. South, (212) 998-2505. Sundown-12 a.m.. Free. Through Oct. 5th.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 5
Bono, lead singer of world-conquering rock band U2 and crusader extraordinaire, plays second fiddle for once. Tonight, he introduces Columbia professor Jeffrey Sachs, author of "The End of Poverty," which features a foreword written by none other than the sunglasses-wearing front man. Sachs, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia and special advisor to Kofi Annan, speaks about ways to end global hunger and poverty. Jack H. Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, 566 La Guardia Pl., (212) 992-8484. 6 p.m. $20 for students & $25-40 otherwise
