I found Carl as "Shirt Maven" on one of style forums online, and when I was in NYC for a marathon in 2004, I visited his workshop to order a few shirts. Have been his client ever since.
Before Carl I ordered my shirts from Hong Kong, with a visiting Indian chap who would show fabric samples etc. and it worked out quite alright. CEGO and Carl turned out a perfect match for me, as I am a self employed guy and I appreciate easy going, truly friendly attitude. Carl cares for me, we can also go out and have a laugh, and that means a lot to me.
Service is superb, and even though once in a while I get an atrocious shirt where the shirting fabric has been slaughtered, yes, it has happened at least twice over the past 5 years, I can always return the shirt and its promptly re-done.
Prices are great + do rummage through his ready made rack at discounted prices! You may pick up a great hand made shirt for as low as $40.00.
Ask him where your shirt is going to be made ... New Jersey or Manhattan :). Choose Manhattan ... :)
