My new craze--RAMUNE SODA!!! (RAMUNE--Japanese for carbonated drink) Ofcourse there's so many different brands and flavors (like melon, peach, strawberry, orange, even lychee) but my utmost favorite is the orignal flavor by "SHIRAKIKU." Can't seem to get enough of it lately--my new born habit, one bottle per night!!! The part I enjoy the most is when the marble pops right into the drink, brings a great deal of satisfaction if I do say so myself =P, and how the marble floats and make 'cling' 'klang' sounds while I drink it..quite entertaining!!! But word of advice, don't throw the cap away, or you'll never get to open your soda and don't think of taking the marble out after you're done..it will never work...instead, get rid of the plastic and use it as a vase or something. If you don't want to go through all the trouble of drinking this soda, they do have it in candy, same taste, same fizz!!! All found in chinese or japanese supermarkets!!!
What is a RAMUNE soda?? In case you're still wondering...here's a lil cheapo research I did..ALL ON MY OWN...well..maybe not..so feast your eyes out:
Ok it's not candy but it's sweet and it's fascinating. Ramune is a very popular drink in Japan like lemonade, but not quite. Though what's particularly interesting about this product is the bottle and how you open it. Instead of a bottle cap this fizzy drink is sealed with a glass marble stuck inside the bottle. The pressure of fizzy drink keeps the marble in place until you want a drink. Then you remove the special opening device which comes with the bottle and use it to push the marble out of the way inside the bottle. There are the two little glass bobbles inside which then hold the marble out of the way while you drink your Ramune.
How to Open a Ramune
Ramune means Carbonated in Japanese and it is a soda from Japan. Its unique shape is for the purpose of holding the marble into place. A marble? Why a marble? Well, like many things form Japan it is to be unique and different. The marble seals the soda.
Now that we have got the basics how does it work?
Ramune has a plastic piece that comes with every soda for you to open it. This is used to lodge in to marble so it will fall down. This can be the tricky and the most fun part. After taking off the plastic wrapper you will see the plastic green piece, this is used to open it. Break the green plastic into two pieces using the easiest method possible. When you have you opening device in hand, this is the piece that doesn't look like cylinder, push it with the palm of your hand over the drink into the marble. This will make the marble drop and you might get some "spillage" but it will be ok. Then enjoy you nice sweet Japanese soda.
Tips:
-Hold down for more than 5 seconds while opening

Got to love that Calvin, he's such a doll, if I have a student like him, I'll cry & laugh at the same time. He'll definetly keep me on my toes.
I was so excited that today was the first day of school--which means its the first day of our After School Program. Aeekkkk...PARENTS!!! Ignorance is totally inexcusable. But I got to say, I love my job, I love what I do, and I love being busy. What can I say, I'm a total workacholic, once I start, I can't stop. So to destress, I find myself in constant clicking of "REFRESH", "REVIEW", and "BLOG" on my new discovery of nyc.com. Am I hook??? Will I be ok??? (an evil, silent, silly laugh)
