Legendary Comedians Cheech & Chong @ Radio City Music Hall, Jan. 31st

Sure, it's not a concert, strictly speaking, but groundbreaking counter-culture icons Cheech & Chong reuniting for a tour is newsworthy no matter what. And, after all, they did do "Earache My Eye" and an album of musical bits. The stars of The Corsican Brothers (although these days they might be better known for their appearances on Lost and That 70's Show, respectively) are bringing their time-tested and unique routine to the incongruously stately and regal Radio City Music Hall. If you think your chance to get tickets have gone... ahem, up in smoke, think again: we've got tickets right here at NYC.com!

Irish Punks Flogging Molly @ the Hammerstein Ballroom on Sunday, February 15th

It's hard to describe Flogging Molly's music without calling them a louder, better version of the Pogues. Celtic punk rock, for sure, but that doesn't really cover the live experience of a Flogging Molly show: the venue itself bends with the weight of an entire audience jumping up and down to the beat of the songs and the walls tremble against the volume coming from the stage. If you can make it to the bar a few times during the set—or better yet, before the band goes on stage—it'll greatly improve your enjoyment of the show. And if you sit down for a drink before or after the show, you're likely to bump into Dave King, the frontman of Flogging Molly, refilling or emptying his pint of Guinness. After the toned-down night most people have on Valentine's Day, a night with Ireland's best and loudest band is the best remedy. U2? More like UWho. Get your tickets soon (in fact, get them right here at NYC.com!) because Flogging Molly shows always sell out.

Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Metallica @ Prudential Center, Sunday, Jan. 31 & Monday, Feb. 1

Newly-inducted members of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Metallica will be playing two massive shows at Newark's Prudential Center on January 31st and February 1st, supporting their return-to-form album Death Magnetic. If previous concerts are any indication, the setlist will range from DM songs all the way back to Kill 'Em All, and both shows are likely to be entirely different. So get your leather jacket and black t-shirt, ease up on the hairspray (it's 2009, after all), and get to pump your fist in the air to the middle eight of "Creeping Death"—it's easily the best part of any Metallica show. Tickets can be purchased right here at NYC.com!

Virgin Megastore To Shutter Its Times Square Location

The Virgin Megastore, a fixture of Times Square shopping that once enjoyed a co-starring role on MTV's TRL, will be closing in April. Vornado, the company that recently bought Virgin Entertainment Group North America, has stated that they only bought the handful of American stores with the intention of winding down the operations, close the doors, and sell or lease the real estate. As it currently stands, the Times Square Virgin Megastore pays something in the neighborhood of $50 per square foot, which is a far cry from market value, which places Times Square property values in the $700 per square foot price range. To put the blame further away from file-sharing and digital music encroachment, the chain of stores announced a profitable year (a 10% increase for the Times Square and Union Square stores) all-around despite the countervailing forces of the current economic downturn.
