Pros: Love this Movie. Incredible!
Cons:
I had the opportunity to see a Landmark film last week on Thursday evening at the Cinema Village theater called Ink.
This is an independent movie, that I had just stumbled upon and had no high hopes. I was blown away and mesmerized. This is no ordinary movie, no ordinary Independent. This is a Landmark film, a story of good versus evil, about the importance of the family and love, about these tough times we face right now. I am amazed at the quality and heart that was put into this movie, the directors name is Jamin Winans and from what I understand, he was there after the movie for Q&A, he is from Colorado of all places and this was filmed in Colorado with all Colorado people. How? The sound, writing, and story were incredible. The different lighting and filming styles within the movie were of no Colorado Independent. The movie reminds me of Dark City, Matrix, Traffic, City of Angels, Brazil, and a number of David Lynch films. Un-real! This movie left me with a need to see it again and again, I will own this movie on DVD and wear it out. Watch for this Jamin Winans he will be here for a very long time making incredible movies for a VERY long time. The DP was amazing as well, the style in which this movie was done I have never really seen before, as I said so Lynch with the sound and style. The post production was insane, so much work, I guess Jamin did it all, so many details. Then there was the actors, how did they find these people in Colorado, I guess some have moved on to LA and I see why. Three people to mention, i had to search to find there names, Chris Kelly played John and gave a very compelling and energetic and real performance, as a distant and distraught father and successful business man torn apart by his ambition. He was believable at every turn. There was a little girl named Quinn Huncher, who played the daughter Emma in the movie that will go on to greatness, assuming she sticks with it, she made me laugh and want to hold her as John's lost and forgotten daughter so cute and so strong on screen. Now, I saved the best for last, I come to Jessica Duffy, I have never seen her before and cannot figure out why, she played Liev, the savior or "Good" vs Ink the "Evil", she was mesmerizing and gorgeous in a dressed down style, almost trying to hide her beauty. They could not fool me she is one of the most beautiful angels I have seen on the big screen in a very long time. Stunning and Classic beauty all in one. She can act too, Oh Boy she can act, she captured me and the rest of the audience from the moment she came on screen, she put her heart and Soul into this role and became the mother and angel and savior of the little girl, And the World...Wow, she made cry and laugh and long for more of her. The rest of the actors in this movie were also fantastic, I still ask how?!?!?!
Anyway these "Colorado" people were cast and filmed and lit, and produced and scored, also by Jamin Winans, in a masterpiece to be seen over and over again. The only question I have for Jamin and Hollywood, and the world is; When are we going to see this in the BIG screens across the US and abroad? I want to, as with I am sure many others, see it in a bigger theater, with better sound. It only played in New York for one night, I want to see it again tonight, and I cannot wait to start wearing out My copy of the DVD! Please bring it back, and when they do, go see this Landmark masterpiece!
