I am a landscape designer working on a Community Garden in NYC.  When I called Fanelli's, I needed medium sized amount of topsoil for a public park. I explained to the woman who works there exactly what the soil was going to be used for--a public park that was going to be a community type of space with children, and seeded with grass.

I recieved the shipment of soil, and it is FULL OF GLASS. I called the owner, Vic, who told me he could only partially refund the purchase.  The fact that this is a not-for -profit Community project did not phase him in the least and he was unapologetic, even asking "what are we talking about, a bucket size full of broken glass??" I don't know if he has children but i would tend to think anyone who does would have more of a conscience when selling soil full of glass for a community park!

i took a photo of the glass collected on the site and would gladly show it to anyone to discourage purchasing from this nursery
