What a great question! We have a list of great city views, including some out-of-the-way and lesser-known places to enjoy the sights of the big city. You might also be interested in some great harbor views or perhaps great river views, or even terrific places to have a cocktail atop rooftop bars.
If you're planning for the future, don't forget about great New Year's Eve views, something on the minds of tourists and locals every December 31st!

Oh, and one more. If you prefer the grittier side, try Great Industrial View. Another spot with a great industrial view is R.H. Tugs Restaurant, overlooking the Kill Van Kull waterway near Snug Harbor. It's not listed on NYC.com (yet), but the link is imbedded above. Try their mustard fried catfish, and in nice weather, sit on the patio and watch the tug boats and freighters float by.
