Traditional Chinese Music and Health

Chinese people have known the healing effect of music for a long time. This can be told from the character of medicine in traditional Chinese, . This character is composed of two parts. The top part is , which means herb, and the bottom part is , which means music.

Throughout the history, Chinese people are advised by scholars to listen to the music with virtue, in order to maintain a good health. In modern society, people have also gradually realized that music is an important part of our environment. Scientists have studied its impact on physical and mental functions for many years. Most notably, music can measurably reduce stress and pain levels. For example, research supported by the National Institute of Nursing Research recently found that listening to music reduced patients' pain levels following major abdominal surgery.

Now, how we can find such a good traditional Chinese music? Well, the New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) is the one. NTDTV feels strongly that it has a mission to spread the heavenly culture of China, thus giving rise to the Chinese New Year Spectacular's theme, myth, and legends . After the 1960's cultural revolution, much of the essence from the Chinese traditional culture was lost. Reviving these values and deep moral meanings of Chinese arts, NTDTV started Chinese New Year Spectacular performances in 2004. From these shows, one can enjoy the wonderful traditional Chinese music and more (http://holidaywonders.net/).
