Life in Australia

Here are some photos of the place I spend most of my time in Australia. The town is called Forster and its about a 4 hour drive north of Sydney. all the years ago it was the place were the Australian Iron Man Triathlon took place, this year they moved to another town further north. During the holiday season it's totally booked out and the beaches are full and the accommodations outrageous expensive. Many people from Sydney are spending their holidays or weekends there, the beaches are truly tropical dream beaches. The other time of the year it's more or less a retirement paradise, you can really notice it in the local supermarkets, since you are surrounded by old people and you feel like in a science fiction movie (hello Cocoon). But the place is very nice and beautiful, it's famous for its many Pelicans and Dolphins in the sea. So, enjoy the photos and feel the atmosphere of the Stepford Wives.

Christmas in Australia

Here are some photos from Australia. For the first time I spent December in a hot climate, and you can bet, it was really hot. On Christmas Eve we had 39 degrees Celsius, about 100 Fahrenheit and it continued all the time I was there. On one hand it was great to feel the summer and going to he beach, wearing shorts and T-shirt all the time and not to be enveloped in thick coats and scarfs, on the other hand, a feeling of christmas didn't come to me, but it didn't matter, the sun and the heat was much better than anything else.

Singapore moments

I'm finally back from my trip to Australia. I started from the icy cold Germany in December and arrived in the hot and tropical Singapore after a quite nice flight in a totally packed plane with the typical delicious food on the plane. Singapore was great, though the weather was really unpleasant. It was hot and humid, just an ordinary day in Singapore. In the evening I went out to discovering the city and I have to admit, I really enjoyed it. The main shopping street Orchid Road was amazingly decorated with spectacular christmas lights in all the different colors, it was totally busy with a fantastic energy. Suddenly a big tropical rainstorm came over us and turned the air into a huge sauna, after half an our or so it was over and I went back to my hotel, after having some Indian dinner. The next morning was similar, hot and humid and as soon I left the hotel for another walk through the city I was covered in sweat, the lens of my camera was condensed every-time I left a shop, which was a bit annoying. I went to China Town but it was a bit disappointing, since it was all about the typical tourist stuff, little golden cats waving the arm, birdcages with singing birds when you clap your hands....... After China Town I continued my walk and came to the famous Raffles Hotel, absolutely fantastic, here the Singapore Sling was created and the atmosphere of the old times is still present. In the afternoon back in the hotel I had a nice shower and had to get ready for the flight to Sydney. I really like Singapore, it is a wonderful city full of energy and nice people, the modern architecture reminds me of Sydney and there is a lot of british colonialism style left, mixed with asian culture which makes it really unique. The photo above is a view out of my hotel window.
