  wild, wet and wacky!
How to describe it? Twinkies, tons of toilet paper, spin-art, so many funny video clips and silly stuff. I love it! These performers are as athletic as you will ever see.

  crazy fun
A wild place to get drunk and eat average Japanese food. Full of hipsters, fake punks and their hangers-on.

  will be phenomenal
I too was skeptical, but it will be an oasis of green above Chelsea's industrial zone. I saw this photoblog today and I love it:

  phony baloney eatin' rice-a-roni
Hey, don't take my word for it, that the food here is uninteresting, has little flavor or spice. The Village Voice seldom prints a bad review, but Robert Sietsema really doesn't like this place. He writes:
The "spicy barbecued" is coarse textured, with little chewy nuggets inside, reminding me of the smoked kielbasas in Polish butcher shops. The biggest disappointment, accompanied by a torrent of bad prose, is the "King of Kings—BBQ brisket, the Baron of beef." Uniformly gray, fatless, machine cut, with a micrometers-thin smoke ring, it fails to charm. Given a choice between eating the front page of the Post or a slice of R.U.B.'s brisket, I'd be hard-pressed to decide....

  aaaargggghhhhh
This watering hole beats most of 'em, with its decades of grunge and grime part of the attraction. Enjoy yourself and whatever you drink here, it is wonderful.

  punk palace
This is the homegrown emporium of punk, the last kid on the block, the final vomit-encrusted, filthy, hot, wretched hole where all the great grandaddies made their mark. RIP CBGB?!

  amateur night
You'll probably see more tourists than locals at amateur night, and this is the case at many of Harlem's most famous venues. But the Apollo is unique, and really worth a visit.

  up, up and away!
New York has been the historical home of the greatest percentage of famous and record-height-breaking skyscrapers in the past century. What's so interesting about this place is the chronology of how New York gained its title, then lost it, then regained it, then again lost it. While Asia might build the world's tallest in the early years of this new century, New York nevertheless still has its well-deserved historical records--and this museum gives great insights into the skyscrapers of New York.

  world-class orchestra
Under direction of conductor Loren Maazel, the philharmonic has prospered even more than under former conductor Kurt Masur. In these days of enormous outlays, covering expenses for a traditional philharmonic has become ever more complicated, and certainly Maestro Maazel knows how to lure patrons to the performances. Nevertheless--and I've said it before--Avery Fisher Hall is a dump, and it is nearly impossible to get younger people to enjoy classical music in this awful sound-handicapped venue. It is a tremendous problem that will only grow in the coming years.

Dia: Chelsea

  brilliant
While it was open, Dia: Chelsea was the trendsetting pioneer that lured most the established galleries to Chelsea. With its terrific full-floor multi-month exhibits, Dia was a powerful draw, along with permanent light sculpture and rooftop sculpture designed by Dan Flavin. I remember some particularly wonderful Katharina Fritsch, Robert Gober and On Kawara exhibits. The ground floor tiling and shop were also terrific.
