Excellent expertise -- high prices, grumpy employees
Pros: Perfect hardware expertise
Cons: Hardcore guys - never a smile - can be rude
In Manhattan, you get what you pay for. And that sometimes means EXCELLENT EXPERTISE, HIGH PRICES -- AND SERVICE WITHOUT A SMILE. Welcome to S&V. Remember that crabby soup-store owner in those old Seinfeld episodes. This place is a hardware store version of that. You almost imagine -- to use a play on the Seinfeld line -- an S&V clerk saying to you, "No screwdriver for you!" These guys really know their stuff. Some of the best hardware experts in NYC, I would think. But the prices are high, and you have to work hard to get their attention. And no matter what you do, you will never get a "hello" or a smile out of them. I bet they sneer behind your back after you leave the store. Hey, how 'bout some Prozac, guys? LOL
