Horrible Food, Tourist Scam
Pros: Cute Decorations, Seemingly romantic atmosphere
Cons: Horrible Food, Scary Fish, Tourist Scam
A classic tourist scam--to be avoided!!! We got taken in by the friendly owner showing off specials outside the restaurant, and we had just failed to get into Becco a few doors down. This place is very cute-looking and was full. Big mistake! The Hourglass was the worst meal we've had in NYC in about 5 years. Both my wife and I had fish and neither of us ate it, it was just that foul. The only thing that was okay was the spinach pie house appetizer--even the deserts were foul. We felt trapped and cheated--though the staff is so "friendly" they are actually conning you into ordering food you would never accept in any local diner. Diner beware!!
