shopping trip to NYC

  designer

I plan on taking a shopping trip to NYC. I would like to know the best place to stay. How far is the garment district from the meat packing district? Also, if I take the train from DC, which train station in NYC should I travel to? I am interested in purchasing fabric to design my own clothes, where is the best place to purchase fabric?

NYC.com offers guaranteed lowest New York City hotel rates available. Simply visit our Hotel Section and search by date. Of course you may also speak with one of our hotel experts by phone at: 888-VISIT-NY (888-847-4869).

The Garment District is less than two miles from the Meatpacking District; we have neighborhood guides and interactive maps of these and other districts in our visitor guide along with tons of other information about trains. Coming from DC, all trains arrive at Penn Station. There are also several cheap DC to NY bus services, the newest and most luxurious of which is Bolt Bus, which coming from D.C. will drop you off right near Penn Station. There is free wireless Internet on board.

West of Broadway on 38th, 39th and 40th streets you will find numerous fabric stores selling top quality fabric. Shop around and you will find great bargains.
