simple blissful perfection
the menu keeps it simple: a fish dish, a chicken dish, a steak, a burger, a salad, and mac & cheese. additionally, a couple daily specials and maybe a soup. the beauty of it is, it's all some of the best executions you can find anywhere. i often been amazed, and never disappointed. even if you live in manhattan, this restaurant is worth the trip to williamsburg.

Saint Mark's finest
it's a basement dive that serves hotdoge. and it's the best place for that post- last call bite to eat. provides a great alternative to the pizza places packed full of drunk jersey-ites.

and what's not to love about a place that will wrap it's dogs in bacon and avocado and will serve you chili and cheese on your tater tots.

an institution in the form of a boudoir martini bar
...because every neighborhood needs a gaudy espresso and martini bar where you can take your out of town guests.

it's like Denny's for the bridge and tunnel set
this place used to be such a staple for this part of town. it was once a cornerstone and standard for brunch in the neighborhood.

but quality and staff have gradually declined. it's been overtaken by the bridge and tunnel crowd. the soundtrack is now really bad eurotechno from a few years ago. and who keeps turning up the lights so bright.

best advice is to keep walking over to Avenue B.

pretentious and average, not worth it if there's a wait
so-so Moroccan food that can't hold a candle to Oznot's Dish in williamsburg. it used to have better atmosphere until they repainted last year.

i live upstairs from this place and there's something about the regular crowd that totally rubs me the wrong way. i think they're all from westchester and just pretend to be from downtown

good dinners, great brunch
a solid choice for steak frites in the east village. the crowd is usually local and not too obnoxious. but when it comes to brunch, it's one of the best kept secrets on Avenue A.

speakeasy tequila and tapas
it was never that terribly exclusive, all you had to do was go ask the waitress for the number. but i don't know what the wait is like ever since its phone number has been published.

as for the restaurant itself, the arched brick ceilings, metal gates, and clandle light set a nice mood. the bar is impressive with its extensive list of fine tequilas, which come server on wooden planks. i was more than satisfied with everything that i've ordered and would trust the specials. service was good without being obtrusive.

i would definitely recommend it as a good place for a date.
