bridge and tunnel crowd; bad service
Pros: beautiful dining room
Cons: its star has been eclipsed
Four of us went, one New Yorker and three wealthy residents of three different Asian countries during a week of meals at Manhattan's top 20 restaurants. For a meal that we spent over $1200 on, we were not at all impressed by the service (very sloppy), the quality or preparation of fish on our multi-course tasting menu or six appetizers, or with the maitre d's response to our polite request that we be allowed to switch tables ("Why? What's the problem?"). Our verdict: Nobu should not even be in the top 50; it's heyday has long since passed.

I came to the same conclusion back in 1998. I live in the neighborhood, and this was also the time that people began pulling up in their cars and asking if I knew where "Now Bow" was located...
