Broadway Fall Season - Almost Here

A spate of new shows this Fall on and off Broadway promises much excitement, drama and sold-out houses. Best to plan ahead and buy tickets now. Here's a selection of shows you won't want to miss:

In mid-September comes the classic George Bernard Shaw play Heartbreak House, opening the 15th. It's more timely than ever, and with a terrific cast will surely be the talk of the Fall season. About a week later on September 21st comes Simon Mendes da Costa's Losing Louie, about a family reunited after years of separation. The play received much critical acclaim in London. And Twyla Tharp's The Times They Are A-Changin', starting September 25, features the music of the legendary Bob Dylan amidst a traveling circus.

In early October, look for the Broadway engagement of Grey Gardens, the hit musical adaptation of the 1975 documentary by the Maysles brothers. Starting October 14th, previews begin of the eagerly-anticipated musical Mary Poppins, which given its stunning success in London means an instant hit on Broadway. Returning to Broadway ten days later is the much-beloved Les Miserables, starting October 24th. And just a day later Nathan Lane begins in the dark comedy Butley. The Grinch himself hits Broadway in Dr Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. A day later on October 26, look for The Little Dog Laughed, a hilarious look inside the world of Hollywood. Finally, just before Halloween comes a totally reworked production of Sondheim's Company on October 30th.

Two shows to look out for around Thanksgiving are High Fidelity, opening November 20th, based on the Nick Hornby novel and film. And on November 30, look for The Vertical Hour, the first world premiere in the United States of playwright David Hare.
