Cutting Room

Nightlife

4.8

The true New York experience
If you want to go to a bar in New York that is going to offer you moody lighting, eclectic surroundings, a wide variety of people and great music, then you need to check out the Cutting Room. This bar, located on a quiet street is the scene for edgy rockers as well as trendsetters alike. A bar owned by Chris Noth (Mr. Big on Sex and the City), it offers great music every night of the week. With a Pac-Man game in the corner and large furniature without, this is a great, moody bar that offers a true New York experience. Just make sure to bring your attitude and a pack of smokes.

Son Cubano

Not only great music, but great food
Son Cubano is a lively restaurant located in the heart of the meatpacking district. This restaurant/bar serves up delicious food as well as a delicious atmosphere that is set back in the heart of cuba. I recommend a pitcher of true sangria. Although it is a little pricey set at around $32, you definitely get what you pay for.

Pastis

Trendy but tasteful
Pastis is a great lunch spot that offers good portions and a lively atmosphere. Although it was very crowded and loud inside, I found myself loving the quaint french atmosphere, and the waitstaff and hostesses were very friendly and attentive. While eating at Pastis, my friend and I both enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich (served on a whole baguette) with avacado and curry mayo. Although this sandwich came with no sides, it was enough to fill anyone up and was delicious. My friend also ordered Croquettes as a side which was melt in your mouth delicious and we both split it as it was very large. Overall this restaurant is very quaint and is a hot spot for great food.

Dos Caminos

Guacamole! Mmmm....
Dos Caminos is an excellent lunch spot that a friend and I stumbled upon when window shopping one afternoon. It not only offered a great atmosphere but delicious food and attentive service.
The homemade guacamole was definitely a treat and the portion was more than what my friend and I could even split (although we tried). If ordering a breakfast meal, a free afternoon coctail is offered, which is a great addition. I tried the tacos with pork which was served with a side of rice and home made refried beans. This meal was so light and tastey it made any mexican meal I have had previously, taste heavy and sour cream/cheese laden. It was delicious!
