Commuting from La Guardia
I have a friend (German), speaks a little English and needs to have the best and inexpensive way to get from La Guardia Airport on May 3 to 227 E. Harriot Avenue in Palisades Park, New Jersey.

We checked Google maps, and aren't exactly sure where this street is located. But in any case, there are several relatively inexpensive ways to get from LaGuardia to Palisades Park, though none is particularly easy or efficient. The first would be to take the M60 bus from LaGuardia airport to Manhattan; you can download a full PDF schedule by clicking HERE. Your friend can transfer from the bus to the subway on 125th Street in Harlem—ask the driver where to get off—and take the downtrain A or C train to the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd Street. You will need to do some research on which bus to take from the Port Authority to Palisades Park by following this LINK. Your friend will need to have $2 in quarters for the bus at LaGuardia airport because it is nearly impossible to buy a MetroCard there, and the buses do not accept dollar bills. We seem to recall that paying a cash bus fare means no free transfer to the subway, so he will then have to buy a MetroCard at the subway station to enter the subway. He should expect total travel time might take three hours. If he is traveling after 9 pm at night, however, a taxi would be more intelligent. Another possibility—though only for the hardy traveler with almost no luggage—would be to transfer to the A or C train at 125 Street and travel uptown to 175 Street, where there is another bus station but of lesser convenience. If he is truly wanting to save as much money as possible and loves to walk long distances, he could simply walk over the George Washington Bridge to New Jersey from there. The town of Fort Lee is on the New Jersey side of the bridge, and it would be a short taxi ride of a few miles from there to Palisades Park. Just for reference: A taxi from LaGuardia directly to Palisades Park would probably cost somewhere between $60 to $100, depending on how good his negotiation skills are with a potential taxi driver. The fare must be negotiated with the driver in advance. More about how that can be found HERE.
Thanks for the helpful information. Could you please send me the PDF schedule for the M60 as I am having trouble opening it or the web site where I can check the Metro bus schedules. Thanks and have a great day!!!
