Seafood Oasis - all hands on deck!
Pros: location, wine list, jazz, service
Cons: noise level, location
Yes! An oasis of seafood in a neighborhood reeking with deep fried non-sense and over-priced mall food! Ahoy! Let’s get a drink. The fish bowl-like bar on the ground floor is a great place to watch and be watched, and the specialty cocktails are a nice treat. Try the signature “Blue Fin”, and then swim on in for a bite to eat. The host stand can be a little hectic, so plan ahead and make a reservation if you are going for dinner. Ascend the film-worthy staircase and find a spacious room with yet another bar and live jazz (often featuring some of New York’s finest musicians). The best items on the menu are the fish dishes, while the sushi selections make great starters. The desserts by George McKirdy are among the best in the city. The wine list sports over 30 wines by the glass and 400 bottles – there is something for everyone (okay, two somethings). There is a sommelier on board. This is a great spot to take out-of-town guests. It has everything – a Times Square location, people-watching, great food, great service. Also great for pre- and post-theater dining. The only drawbacks are the noise level and the somewhat steep price tag.
