West Side Story is on Broadway until February 14, 2010 at the Palace Theater in New York City (NYC). Tickets are on sale now.
The West Side Story is a love story with a punch! Set in the 1950's on the West Side of New York its about two rival teen gangs, the Jets and Sharks. The Sharks are first generation Americans whose parents and descendants are from Puerto Rico, while the Jets family tree have a long standing history in America and they consider themselves full-blooded Americans. These cultural differences made the gangs bitter rivals.
Tony, one of the members of the Jets falls in love with Maria, the sister of the leader of the Sharks. As you can imagine this love pair are in for some trouble! The two gangs are not happy about this love affair and Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks is destined to put a stop to his sister's betrayal by any means neccessary.
Throughout the entire musical there are a series of dance performances which emulate the fighting between the two gangs in street brawls that are jam-packed with spin kicks and fly-in punches worked into dance moves. If you never seen the West Side Story then now is your chance while it is in New York City on Broadway. It is a great musical and you can't go wrong! Bring your friend, family, co-workers, or enjoy a day alone. This musical is for everyone who is looking to have a great time!
